Summary
Yu Huang is the undisputed ruler of the Dark Kingdom of Jade (Yellow Springs), the vast Underworld realm that encompasses the dead of China, Korea, Japan, and much of Southeast Asia. In life he was Qin Shi Huang, the First Emperor who unified China. Through elaborate funerary preparations, magical rituals, and sheer will, he entered the Underworld already prepared for conquest.
He rapidly subdued the Asian Shadowlands, created a massive bureaucratic empire modeled after his living dynasty, and crowned himself Yu Huang — the Jade Emperor, highest of the gods. His rule is absolute, paranoid, and sustained by an army of Immortal Guards (terracotta warriors bound to loyal wraiths), vast quantities of White Jade, and an intricate system of control, torture, and soul-forging.
Persistent rumors claim that the original Qin Shi Huang was destroyed long ago and replaced by a powerful Malfean (specifically linked to the dragon Lung Wang), who has ruled in his identity ever since.
